The PIN code is commonly known as postal code or area code. It stands for Postal Index Number. It is a 6 digit number where every digit of the number indicates a particular area. Look below on an example, how it can be determined by 6 ways: PIN code: 110075 1) The 1st digit of the code represents the region: North, South, East & West. - North: 1,2 -West: 3,4 -South: 5,6 -East: 7,8 -Army: 9 2) The second digit from the left indicates the stat sub region Below is a listing of the PIN codes of Indian States as designed on 15th Aug'1972. 3) The third digit represents the sorting district of that particular state.
